Overview:
When you create a new task in the new workflow, you can now choose a dependent task trigger
A Dependent Task Trigger in a workflow ensures that a specific task can only begin once a preceding task is completed or automatically after a key date. This setup creates a logical sequence automatically, preventing tasks from being started out of order.
You no longer need to set a fixed date—now, tasks can be triggered based on a dependent date, making the process more efficient and saving you time!
There are 3 independent task triggers:
Relative to a key date
- On a key date, or
- Depending on other tasks
Trigger 1: Relative to a key date
- Date-type fields are available in the dropdown, allowing you to easily set dates relative to a specific date field of an event.
- You can specify the time period in days, weeks, or months.
Trigger 2: On a Key date
- You can also schedule a task to be sent on a specific key date, such as the Start Date.
Trigger 3: Depending on other tasks
(a) Dependent on task completion
- The dependent task dropdown will only show tasks included in this workflow, as long as there is no cyclic dependency.
- In this case below, I have decided for Welcome Lunch to depend on Send Welcome Email task completion.
(b) Due date can be relative to the send date
(c) Set more than 1 task dependencies
- You can set multiple task dependencies, meaning this task will only be triggered once all required tasks are completed.
