Overview:
This article guides you on configuring a waiting period for the time off balance to be available to the employee after their confirmation date (completed probation) or a custom waiting period.
- Go to Time Off > Settings > Time Off Type > Select your Leave > Select your Policy

- Under the Time Off Usage section, refer to the Leave can be taken setting
- You may select, "Immediately" if you do not need to configure a waiting period. Otherwise, select the "After" option to configure a waiting period

- From the dropdown you will have the option to configure your waiting period being dependent on the employees confirmation date, set your own custom date or selecting the rule - earliest of confirmation date or custom period.
Time Off Waiting - After Confirmation Date
- If you select After > Confirmation Date

- Confirmation Date refers to the date specified under the Probation & Notice section of an employee’s profile.
- The time off balance will only become available to that employee to the employee after their confirmation date.

- On the employee profile's time off tab view, they will be able to see the time off policy they are entitled to, but the balance will show as unavailable. A note will also indicate when the balance will become available.
- Please note that if the confirmation date is missing, the time off balance remains unavailable to the employee
Time Off Waiting Period - Custom Period
- If you select After > Custom Date, you can input the custom waiting period (in days, months, or years) for when the time off balance should become available to the employee.

- Similarly, employees will see the time off policy assigned to them, along with a note showing when their balance will become available.
Time Off Waiting Period - Earliest of Confirmation Date or Custom Period
- If you select After > Earliest of Confirmation Date or Custom Period, the system will compare the custom waiting period you’ve set with the confirmation date under the Probation & Notice section, and apply whichever comes earlier.

- If the confirmation date is empty, the system will automatically apply the custom period as the waiting period.
